The filling is bake stable, so it holds its shape in pies, tarts and Danish pastries instead of bubbling out in the oven. It's freeze/thaw stable too, which means filled cakes and slices can be made ahead and frozen. Pipe a buttercream dam around your sponge layers and spread the filling inside, spoon it over a set cheesecake, or swirl it through cheesecake batter before baking.
